Changdeok Palace

A visit in early spring to a Royal Palace in Seoul to see the cherry blossoms, taking a stroll through the expansive gardens and spending some peaceful moments in the serene pavilions and rooms of the palace.

The elegant traditional interiors have dark-stained timber framing the white wallpaper and white paper screens. The paper, called hanji, is handmade from mulberry bark, using centuries-old techniques.

The layers of walls and screens open up to give framed views of the blossoms.
