Monoha Gallery & Tea Room

A large and airy gallery over two levels in Seoul's trendy Hannam-dong neighbourhood, this space has a comprehensive display of contemporary art and design objects, from vases to clothing.

The name refers to the Monoha minimalist art movement of the 1960s and 70s in Korea and Japan.  One member of the movement, the Korean artist Lee Ufan, has some of his beautiful paintings exhibited here.

The interior design is minimalist, white-walled and flooded with natural light. Elegant slender-framed timber joinery accommodates the various works.

The highlight of their collection, as for any collection of Korean art, is a luminous white porcelain Moon Jar.

The minimalist tea room is by appointment only.
